Roger Raventós Mateu

Born in Barcelona in 1974, he began playing the guitar at the age of seven under the guidance of Vicens Fornas and went on to pursue a degree in music, specializing in guitar, at the Conservatory of Music of the Liceo in Barcelona under the tutelage of Jaume Torrent.

He completed his Professional Degree in 1990 with an “excellent” grade and his Advanced Degree in 1993, receiving an Honorable Mention.

Since then, he has pursued postgraduate studies and advanced training in the instrument at the Escola d’Arts Musicals Luthier in Barcelona with teachers Xavier Coll and Fernando Rodríguez, taken master classes with teachers José Tomás, David Russell, Carles Trepat, Manuel Barrueco, Hopkinson Smith, and Eliot Fisk, and completed all courses in harmony and counterpoint.

At the 43rd Maria Canals International Competition in Barcelona, he was awarded the Diploma of Honor. He was also awarded first prize at the 10th Chamber Music Competition held in Sant Joan de Vilatorrada (Manresa) in April 2003.

He has performed as a soloist and with various chamber ensembles at venues such as the Casal del Metge, the SGAE Auditorium, the Caja Madrid Auditorium, the Teatro del Eixample, and the Juan Carlos I Conference Center in Madrid, and in concert series such as Clàssica als Parcs, organized by the Barcelona City Council, Nits de concerts a Gallecs, and L’hivern a Mallorca, as well as at numerous international conferences held at Casa Batlló, the Cercle del Liceu, Sala Marqués de Comillas, and the Palau de Pedralbes in Barcelona, among others.

He has studied jazz improvisation at schools such as the Taller de Músics, El Passatge, and the Badalona School of Modern Music. He was a member of the Muntaner Jazz Quartet for three years. He has collaborated both live and on recordings with various flamenco, jazz, and rock groups and is currently a member of the groups Aïsha and El niño Garbanzo.

He currently teaches guitar at the Montmeló del Vallés Municipal School of Music.
