Roger Raventós Mateu
Musical director (1974-2014)

Born in Barcelona 1974, at the age of 7 years he started his guitar studies with the teacher Viçens Fornas and continued with the Music Degree with a major in guitar in the Liceu Higher Music Conservatory (Barcelona) with Professor Jaume Torrent.

He finished the Professional Guitar Degree in 1990 with excellent qualifications and the Higher Guitar Degree in 1993 obtaining an Honorific Mention. He has completed all the harmony and counterpoint courses.

Since then, he has done post-graduate guitar courses in the Musical Arts School Luthier (Barcelona) with Professors Xavier Coll and Fernando Rodriguez, master classes with José Tomás, David Russell, Carles Trepat, Manuel Barrueco, Hopkinson Smith and Elliot Fisk.

In the 43rd edition of the International Contest Maria Canals of Barcelona he was awarded an Honourific Diploma. He has also been awarded with the 1st Prize in the 10th Contest of Chamber music that took place in Sant Joan de Vilatorrada (Barcelona) April 2003.

He has performed solo as well as with different chamber formations, in Casal del Metge, the Spanish Authors General Society Auditorium, the Caja Madrid Auditorium, Eixample Theater (Barcelona), Congresses Palace Juan Carlos I (Madrid); concert cycles like Clàssica als Parcs promoted by the Barcelona City Council, Nits de Concerts a Gallecs and L’hivern a Mallorca, as well as in several international conventions held in Gaudi’s Casa Batlló, at the Liceu Cercle, Sala Marqués de Comillas and Pedralbes Royal Palace in Barcelona among others.

Currently he is a guitar teacher in the City Council Conservatory of Montmeló del Vallés (Barcelona).

He has studied jazz improvisation in different modern music schools of Barcelona. For 3 years he was member of the Muntaner Jazz Quartet. He has done several collaborations in live concerts as well as in record works with different flamenco, jazz and rock groups. His current modern music projects are Aïsha and El niño Garbanzo.
